Posting Ads
Click the Post Ad button, choose a category and subcategory, fill in the details, upload photos and submit. Your ad will be reviewed by our team and published within a few hours.
During our introductory launch period, posting ads is free for all users. We will introduce a small, affordable listing fee in the future. You will be notified well in advance before any charges apply.
A small listing fee helps us maintain a high-quality, trustworthy marketplace. When listings are entirely free with no limit, some users repeatedly post the same ad just to keep it at the top — pushing genuine listings down and making search results less useful. A modest fee encourages sellers to post honestly and keep their ads up to date, which is better for everyone.
No. Posting duplicate ads for the same item is not allowed. If we detect the same item listed multiple times by the same user, the duplicate ads will be removed and the account may be suspended. Use the Renew button in your dashboard to refresh your existing ad's position instead.
You can upload up to 12 photos per ad. Clear, well-lit photos from multiple angles significantly increase responses. We recommend photos taken in natural daylight.
Ads are active for 30 days. Before expiry you can renew your ad from your dashboard — this gives it a fresh timestamp and moves it back to the top of results without needing to repost.
Yes. Go to My Ads in your dashboard and click Edit on any active ad. You can update the title, description, price and photos at any time.
Ads are rejected for reasons such as: prohibited items, misleading or inaccurate content, duplicate listings, watermarked or stolen photos, or violation of our Terms & Conditions. You will receive a notification explaining the reason, and you are welcome to correct and resubmit the ad.
Account & Profile
Click Register, enter your name, email address and a password. Verify your email and you're ready to post.
Click Forgot Password on the login page. Enter your registered email address and we'll send you a reset link within a few minutes. Check your spam folder if you don't see it.
To request account deletion, email us at support@defa.lk from your registered email address. We will process your request within 7 working days.
Buying & Safety
Open any listing and use the message button to contact the seller directly through Defa.lk. Some sellers also display a phone number or WhatsApp contact.
We review all ads before they go live and act quickly on fraud reports. However, always meet in a safe public place, inspect the item carefully before paying, and never transfer money in advance to someone you have not met in person.
Tap the Report button on the listing page. Our moderation team will investigate and remove it promptly. You can also email us at support@defa.lk.
No. Defa.lk is a listings platform — payments, deliveries and any other arrangements are made directly between buyers and sellers. We strongly advise against advance payments to strangers.
Technical Help
Make sure each photo is under 8 MB and in JPG, PNG or WebP format. Try a different browser or disable browser extensions that may block uploads. If the problem continues, contact support.
Check your spam or junk folder. Wait a few minutes and try resending from the login page. If it still doesn't arrive, contact us at support@defa.lk.
